These are police volunteers at the Germantown Commons shopping center in Montgomery County, Maryland. There are about a dozen of them scouring the parking lot. If they spot a GPS or cell phone in your car while it’s parked in this parking lot you will receive a warning by mail from the Montgomery County police to not display the device in your car while you’re parked there.
I do get spam comments on Disqus but they’re usually already gone by the time I go to delete them. I am impressed with this!
Pinboard, a minimalist social bookmarking service by Maciej Ceglowski and Peter Gadjokov (one of the co-founders of delicious), tries to solve this problem. Their service that launched in late 2009 allows you to automatically store a copy of all the pages that you bookmark. Even if the original site goes offline, or the page is removed, you can still find the information in your Pinboard’s cache. The service, priced $25 per year, is not dirt cheap, but can be quite useful at times; moreover, whatever amount you paid to subscribe to Pinboard in the first place, is deducted from the first payment (there is a one-time subscription fee, depending on the current number of users; this fee is now around $6 and allows Pinboard to remain ad-free).Pinboard: A Social Bookmarking Tool That Literally Archives Your Web

W. Somerset Maugham, 1874 – 1965
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
Douglas Noel Adams, 1952 – 2001
As far as I’m concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue.
Albert Einstein, 1879 – 1955
